TMJ, or temporomandibular joint, refers to the hinge joint that connects the jawbone (mandible) to the skull, allowing for the movement necessary for activities like chewing, speaking, and yawning. When this joint becomes painful, it is often because of various factors, including jaw misalignment, stress, teeth grinding, or injury. Symptoms may include jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds when moving the jaw, headaches, and difficulty opening or closing the mouth.

At Ecologic Dentristry, Myoaligner® treatment protocols offer us revolutionary, non-invasive solutions to complex problems. By naturally relaxing the jaw muscles and allowing the jaw to realign to the optimal position, a majority of patients can be relieved from jaw pain, headaches, or other symptoms caused by a bad bite.

If you suffer from any of the following symptoms, you may be a candidate for Myoaligner for jaw issues.

  1. Jaw Pain: Persistent or intermittent pain in the jaw joint, which may be localized to one or both sides.
  2. Clicking or Popping Sounds: Clicking, popping, or grating noises when you open or close your mouth or move your jaw. These sounds may or may not be accompanied by pain.
  3. Jaw Stiffness: Difficulty in opening your mouth wide, often associated with a feeling of jaw stiffness or limited mobility.
  4. Headaches: Frequent tension headaches or migraines, which can be triggered by the tension and discomfort associated with TMJ.
  5. Ear Pain: Pain or a feeling of fullness in the ears, which can sometimes be mistaken for ear problems when it’s actually related to TMJ.
  6. Facial Pain: Discomfort or pain in the face, especially around the jaw joint and the temple area.
  7. Locking of the Jaw: Occasionally, the jaw may lock in an open or closed position, making it difficult to move.
  8. Toothaches: TMJ-related pain can sometimes radiate to the teeth, leading to the misperception of dental issues.
  9. Tinnitus: Ringing or buzzing in the ears, which can sometimes be a consequence of TMJ dysfunction.
  10. Changes in Bite: An altered bite or the feeling that your upper and lower teeth no longer fit together as they used to.
